Lollipop hosted the very first York Deaf Services Fair on Wednesday 6th April 2022 at York St John University with the aim of bringing together deaf services/organisations in York for the benefit of the local D/deaf community!

It was a great success with many organisations attending: City of York Teachers of the Deaf, Healthwatch, I Can Play!, Music and the Deaf, Sign Video Services, Yorkshire BSL, the Ewing Foundation, the William Merrit Centre, Harrogate Deaf Society, Deaf CAMHS, Living 4 Moments, the NDCS and YorSensory.

It was wonderful to see so many people attend! Many Lollipop members and their families came along as well as lots of new faces who we were able to give a warm welcome to in person! It was a great opportunity to share information and make new connections. There was a wonderful buzz in Temple Hall and it was a very inclusive event for BSL users and English users alike with interpreters on hand. We were busy for the whole event and it was fantastic to see so many people make the most of the evening and go away with new ideas and new information that would benefit them in the future.

We will look to hold another fair in the future and if you run or work for a local charity, organisation, or service of interest to the D/deaf community and are interested in hosting a stand at this event, please contact Heidi Davies: servicemanager@lollipopyork.org.uk
