Volunteers needed
Do you have a few hours a month to spare to help a local charity?
LOLLIPOP is a York-based charity that offers social and emotional support to children, young people and their families with any degree of deafness from mild to profound. We offer a wide range of regular FREE activities to provide our members (aged 0-25) with a deaf peer group to build confidence and self-esteem, develop their self-identity and prepare them for adult life.
As a Lollipop volunteer (D/deaf or Hearing) you could get involved in a number of different areas depending on your skills and interests:
You don’t have to limit yourself to just one area, get involved with as much as you like! |
No experience needed as relevant training and supervision will be provided. Knowledge of BSL and/or experience of working with young people with additional needs is desirable but not essential. If you are willing to share your time, skills and ideas to help support the local D/deaf community, this could be the perfect volunteer role for you!
To apply, please email servicemanager@lollipopyork.org.uk (subject line ‘Lollipop Volunteer’) attaching your CV plus a cover letter stating:
- why you would like to volunteer with Lollipop
- which areas you would be most interested in
- what skills, qualities and experience you could bring to the charity
- contact details including email addresses of two referees
Successful candidates will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check paid for by Lollipop and attend Deaf Awareness Training
