Lollipop parent Roy Gibson is running the Yorkshire Marathon on October 19th!

Roy let us know they had decided to take the plunge and sign up for the marathon in May, and the day now coming around fast! We are always hugely thankful when people decide to take on a challenge for Lollipop and we wish Roy all the best! Training is going well and despite recently having a sprain, they are keeping their training on target. Here’s why Roy is running for Lollipop…

“Bobbie (Roy’s daughter) is partially deaf; because of this, she has to work harder than most to just keep up with what’s going on in school, in rugby training, and in life in general.

We struggled to find her a community that understood this struggle and could help us find help for her and find her a deaf community of friends.

Then came Lollipop, an amazing but small charity. They work with deaf children and take them on days out where being deaf isn’t being in the minority, they also offer advice and help and support for parents.

If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t have learnt (some very basic) sign language and Bobbie wouldn’t be as comfortable as she is with her deafness.

Any money you can give will make a massive difference to this charity and what it can do – give what you can x R”

We will update this page and our social media with photos and progress reports, and if you can give something to support Roy and Lollipop, here is the fundraising link…
